can anyone point me in the right direction?

The 1600 is just a better bike all around ...
Read the magazine reviews from its intro in 2003...
More refined, longer wheelbase but handles better...
More power, sleeker look, beefier tires...

Love mine !!!

As someone who owned both a 1500 Classic FI and a 1600 Nomad I would say that statement is highly subjective. While the 1600 did have improvements like tubeless tires and a larger engine, it also was slightly more vibey and the seat was significantly less comfortable. So while both are great bikes, the differences ( as reported by Motorcycle Cruiser Magazine), are negligible and really fall under personal preferences. Now the 1700, that's a different story.

I don't know which "models" are involved in this, but some 1999 Kawa 1500s had a defective part called the POG I believe, and it stands for plastic oil gear if I remember right. The gear would fail and then the engine is gonna be destroyed..Ma Kaw fixed them for free for a long time, but not anymore.
Just keep in mind of you happen upon a 94 1500.
