I have seen it many a time, a rider looks at the very thing the intent is to NOT hit, but by looking at it the results are almost always wrong. If you look at where you WANT the bike to go you're much better off. The other key to that is knowing how to apply handgrip pressure properly to get the bike to track exactly where and when you want it to go.

While the BRC classes emphasize "looking through the turn" or looking further down the road, the real effectiveness of it become much more effective when applied on the road and off the practice range.

I also teach the Street Skills 1 and 2 classes on the small road course/pro-kart course at Road America, and it is a great format for really practicing looing through the turns and planning your path of travel before you even enter the turns.

Rice Girl -- I hope you continued to follow this thread that you started. I hope, too, that you conquered your fear of your bike and of riding so that you are, by now, really digging being (safely) on the road. There is soooooooooo much great advice in this thread that has helped me as I prepare to take my lovely beast for our first practice outing this weekend. As you said, Rice Girl, the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time...and the only way I'm gonna ride my baby is one gear at a time. So, thanks to all who responded to this thread. I'm sure your info and encouragement helped Rice Girl...and I know damn well you helped me!
